BBC to broadcast the Winter Olympics 2018 in the UK

BBC will broadcast the Winter Olympics 2018 in the UK, together with Eurosport. Exactly how this cooperation will look is not yet known.

I have a feeling that BBC will only serve us with daily wrap-ups, and maybe a few live streams. The main reason for this is the lack of interest for the Winter Olympics in the United Kingdom. Because of the limited amount of contestants from the UK, there is also a limited interest for the event among the common man. As a consequence, Eurosport will probably run most live streams, while BBC will only show the most important events and possible wrap-ups in the evening.

I do not know anything about this for sure, so I am purely guessing. It would be great if more people would get an interest for the Winter Olympics in England, which again would motivate young people to become Winter athletes.

Great Britain during the Sochi Olympics

During the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014, Great Britain won a total of four medals. They got one gold medal, one silver medal, and two bronze medals. They came with a total of 56 athletes. During the Winter Games, Jenny Jones won a bronze medal in women’s slopestyle, followed by a gold medal from Lizzy Yarnold in Skeleton. Great Britain also won a bronze medal in Curling for women, while the male curling team got a silver medal after losing the final against Canada. Hopefully, Great Britain will perform even better in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang.
